Case Study: Casa de Blas

Alberto Campo Baeza
Completed 2000
Madrid, Spain

Located on a hilltop outside of Madrid, the design concept for Casa de Blas was inspired by a Luis Cernuda poem, “Donde habite el olvido”, which focused on the struggle between achieving desired freedom and the limits imposed by reality. Baeza realizes the tension of this dichotomy through a literal interpretation of tectonic versus stereotomic.
